Godsløkka and Grønlandskvartalet
Drammen, Norway
In central Drammen, Lundhagem has worked with the area plan and transformation of Godsløkka and Grønlandskvartalet, which will become a cultural incubator and meeting place for the entire district, with a bustling and rich cultural life.
The project area of approximately 100 acres mainly consists of a railway site for stacking of freight trains, with a short distance to Drammenselva. It will be developed into an urban, future-oriented district for housing, business, and culture – a new neighborhood open to everyone. The project area ranges from central hub development in the east, near the bus and train stations, to residential buildings and the establishment of a new public park close to historic Smithestrøm gård, with Nybyen as its nearest neighbour.
Most of the project site is located to the west of the main thoroughfare Kreftings gate, with the railway to the north and a green area to the west towards Sunnland. The design will be people-oriented, with green mobility playing an important part. With housing for all age groups, from apartments to terraced houses, it is a place to live for the rest of your life.
The project area is a buffer between Nybyen's small houses in the south and the urban district of Grønland in the north. At the intersection of these two different directions,
"Godsallmenningen" will be an exciting and vibrant urban space offering great variation - from the urban east to the green west.
