Hoffsveien Hage

Oslo, Norway

Framed by waterways and green features, Hoffsveien Hage is in a central, but quiet and secluded area, with short distance to the hubs of Smestad and Skøyen. Makrellbekken is to the west, and Hoffselva, Øvre- and Nedre Smestaddammen to the east.

A new development in a well-established residential area, Hoffsveien Hage consists of four faceted buildings with a total of 58 apartments, which together frame a common yard with openings in all directions. The design allows for sunshine throughout the day, while connecting with the site’s green pockets and preserving its natural pedestrian areas.

All four houses have direct access out to the central yard, where outdoor areas at different levels encourage activities. To ensure good conditions in terms of light, air, views and openness, the buildings have a faceted shape.

The apartments have been designed with emphasis on creating a large variety of sizes, types, and solutions, with most of them having aspects in several directions.

The facades themselves have been given an expression that interacts with the other buildings in the neighborhood, appearing unified and anchored to the landscape through the use of reddish brick.
